Ingredients

  • 2 cups Roasted besan (gram flour)
  • ⅔ cup ground walnuts
  • ⅓ cup almond powder
  • 4 tbsp honey

Instructions

Steps for roasting besan for laddoo

  • Pre-heat oven to 300F/175C
  • Spread a 2lb/1kg packet of besan in an oven tray
  • Mash any lumps in the besan
  • Place the tray in the pre-heated oven
  • Set the timer for 1.5 hours (90 mins)
  • Turn the besan around every 30 minutes
  • Once you start smelling the besan and the colour changes a bit, you know it's cooked

Steps for making laddoo

  • Take 2 measuring cups of roasted besan
  • Add the ground walnuts and almond powder
  • Mix all ingredients well, the oil released from walnuts when grinding helps to bind
  • Add 3 tablespoons honey
  • Mix well, honey will help to bind the mixture
  • Once mixed, add 1 more tablespoon of honey
  • Mix well
  • Don't add all 4 tablespoons of honey together as it may not mix well
  • Shape the mixture into laddoos by rolling between fingers and palm of one hand
  • Enjoy this sweet indulgence!

Notes

I find sweetness from 4 tablespoons honey sufficient, if you like it sweeter, you can add 1 more tablespoon of honey.
